Keane Lewis-Potter opened the scoring for Brentford against Tottenham Hotspur in the 2026–27 Premier League opener.
Lewis-Potter scored in the 12th minute after receiving a pass from Brentford debutant Mamadou Sangare. The early goal set Brentford on course for a commanding 3–0 victory at the start of the new campaign.
Vitaly Janelt added Brentford’s second before half-time, and Michael Kayode completed the scoring after the interval. Brentford’s only disappointment was Igor Thiago’s missed penalty, which prevented an even larger margin.
The match also marked an important occasion for Tottenham. Archie Gray became the club’s youngest player to captain the side in a competitive match, surpassing Steve Perryman’s record of 20 years and 260 days. That captaincy record is separate from the scoring question: Lewis-Potter was the player who put Brentford ahead.
