Which Brazilian band released "Beneath the Remains" in 1989?

The story behind the answer

Brazilian band Sepultura released Beneath the Remains in 1989.

Beneath the Remains is Sepultura’s third studio album and was released on April 7, 1989. Recorded in late 1988 at Nas Nuvens Studio in Rio de Janeiro, it was the band’s first release for Roadrunner Records. Producer Scott Burns helped give the album a more powerful and internationally competitive sound than Sepultura’s earlier work.

The record captures the band’s transition from early black-metal influences toward a technical blend of thrash metal and death metal. Songs such as “Inner Self” helped introduce Sepultura to listeners beyond Brazil, and the album became their breakthrough in international extreme-metal circles.

The alternatives are also Brazilian metal names, but they point to different histories. Sarcófago influenced extreme metal’s early development, Angra became known for power metal, and Krisiun emerged later as a death-metal force. None released Beneath the Remains.
