Which book of the Bible contains the account of Noah building the Ark?

The story behind the answer

The book of Genesis contains the account of Noah building the Ark.

The story appears in Genesis chapters 6 through 9. It describes human wickedness, God’s decision to send the Flood, Noah’s instructions for constructing the ark, the boarding of his family and the animals, the recession of the waters, and the covenant marked by a rainbow.

Genesis is the first book of both the Hebrew Bible and the Christian Old Testament. Its opening chapters include creation stories, Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, and other early ancestral narratives before the text reaches Noah and the Flood.

Noah also appears in other religious traditions, including the Quran, where the account has different wording and details. For the ark-building narrative in the Bible, however, Genesis is the specific book containing the main account.
