Beyoncé’s 2016 visual album Lemonade is structured around seven chapters.
The project was released on April 23, 2016, alongside an hour-long film broadcast on HBO. Its chapters are titled Intuition, Denial, Anger, Apathy, Emptiness, Accountability, and Forgiveness.
Lemonade combines songs, poetry, spoken passages, and imagery connected to Black womanhood, family, history, betrayal, healing, and cultural memory. It includes collaborations with artists such as Jack White, Kendrick Lamar, James Blake, and The Weeknd.
The album debuted at number one in the United States and was widely praised for its visual and musical ambition. Some listeners refer to the HBO presentation as a film and others to Lemonade as a visual album; both descriptions relate to the same 2016 multimedia project.
