Which Beyoncé song won Video of the Year at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards?

“Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” won Video of the Year at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

The song appeared on Beyoncé's 2008 album I Am... Sasha Fierce and became especially recognizable for its black-and-white video and tightly synchronized choreography. The video was directed by Jake Nava and featured dancers including Jennie Livingston and Ebony Williams.

At the 2009 ceremony, the video won three awards: Video of the Year, Best Choreography, and Best Editing. The event is also remembered for Kanye West interrupting Taylor Swift's acceptance speech, a moment separate from Beyoncé's award win.

The song is often shortened to “Single Ladies,” but its full official title includes the parenthetical phrase “Put a Ring on It.” That complete title is the most precise answer.
