Beyoncé’s song “Crazy in Love,” featuring Jay-Z, won the 2004 Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.
Released in 2003, the track was the lead single from Beyoncé’s debut solo album, Dangerously in Love. Its production prominently uses a sample from the Chi-Lites’ 1970 song “Are You My Woman (Tell Me So),” transformed into the song’s instantly recognizable brass hook.
“Crazy in Love” became Beyoncé’s first number-one single as a solo artist in the United States. Jay-Z contributes a rap verse, and the song’s high-energy arrangement helped define the sound of her early solo career.
At the 46th Grammy Awards in 2004, the recording won Best R&B Song as well as Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. It is distinct from “Drunk in Love,” another Beyoncé-and-Jay-Z collaboration released more than a decade later.
