Beyoncé’s single featuring Jay-Z and built around a horn sample from “Are You My Woman” is “Crazy in Love.”
Released in 2003, “Crazy in Love” was the lead single from Beyoncé’s debut solo album, Dangerously in Love. The song was produced by Rich Harrison and Beyoncé, with Jay-Z contributing a rap verse. Its prominent brass hook samples “Are You My Woman (Tell Me So),” a 1970 song by the Chi-Lites.
The single became Beyoncé’s first number-one hit on the US Billboard Hot 100. Its energetic arrangement, vocal ad-libs, and memorable music video helped define her early solo image. The video was directed by Jake Nava and includes the widely recognized dance sequence in which Beyoncé performs in a red outfit.
“Crazy in Love” is sometimes confused with “Drunk in Love,” another Beyoncé and Jay-Z collaboration released a decade later. The two titles are separate songs from different albums and eras.
