Which Beyoncé single became her first US Billboard Hot 100 number one in the 2020s?

The story behind the answer

“Break My Soul” became Beyoncé’s first US Billboard Hot 100 number one in the 2020s.

Released in June 2022, “Break My Soul” was the lead single from Renaissance, Beyoncé’s seventh studio album. The track draws on house music and features vocals from rapper and singer Big Freedia. Its production also incorporates elements of Robin S’s “Show Me Love” and The-Dream’s “Explode.”

The song reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in August 2022. It was Beyoncé’s eighth solo number-one single on that chart and her first since “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” in 2008. Its lyrics about leaving exhausting work and seeking personal freedom resonated strongly during a period of widespread pandemic-era burnout.

“Cuff It” was another major Renaissance hit but did not become the album’s Billboard Hot 100 number one. “Texas Hold ’Em,” released in 2024, belongs to Cowboy Carter, so it is not the answer to this question.
