None of Beyoncé’s films won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2020. Beyoncé was nominated that year for “Spirit,” from The Lion King, but the award went to “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” from Rocketman.
The 92nd Academy Awards took place on February 9, 2020. “Spirit” was written by Beyoncé, Timothy McKenzie, and Ilya Salmanzadeh. It was one of the original songs connected with Disney’s 2019 photorealistic remake of The Lion King, in which Beyoncé voiced Nala.
This question distinguishes a nomination from a win, a common awards mix-up. Beyoncé later received an Oscar nomination for “Be Alive,” written with Dixson for King Richard, at the 94th Academy Awards in 2022. She has also contributed music to films through performances, soundtrack work, and voice acting.
