“Savage Remix” by Megan Thee Stallion featuring Beyoncé won the 2021 Grammy Award for Best Rap Song.
The original “Savage” appeared on Megan Thee Stallion’s 2020 EP Suga. Beyoncé joined the remix, released in April 2020, adding new verses and connecting the song to Houston, the home city of both artists. The remix became a major commercial success and topped the Billboard Hot 100.
At the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards in March 2021, the remix won Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance. Beyoncé also became the most awarded woman and the most awarded singer at that Grammy ceremony, reaching 28 career wins.
The award is sometimes confused with the Grammy for Record of the Year, which the song did not win. “Savage Remix” specifically took the songwriting-focused Best Rap Song prize, while Best Rap Performance recognizes the recorded performance.
