B'Day was the Beyoncé album released in 2006 and titled as a reference to her birthday. It arrived on September 1, 2006, three days before Beyoncé’s 25th birthday.
The album followed her successful solo debut, Dangerously in Love, and was recorded in a relatively short period after the filming of Dreamgirls. Its sound draws heavily on contemporary R&B, funk, pop, and hip-hop, with energetic production throughout.
B'Day produced major singles including “Déjà Vu,” “Irreplaceable,” and “Beautiful Liar,” the latter a collaboration with Shakira. “Irreplaceable” became one of Beyoncé’s best-known solo hits and topped the Billboard Hot 100.
The title is sometimes written with different punctuation or capitalization, but “B'Day” is the album’s canonical stylized title. A deluxe edition followed in 2007 with additional songs and collaborations.
