“Texas Hold ’Em” is Beyoncé’s country-influenced 2024 single that topped the Billboard Hot 100.
Beyoncé released “Texas Hold ’Em” on February 11, 2024, during the Super Bowl LVIII broadcast. It was issued as one of two songs that introduced her upcoming country-focused album, Cowboy Carter; the other was “16 Carriages.” The song uses country and pop elements with banjo, acoustic instrumentation, and a danceable groove.
“Texas Hold ’Em” became Beyoncé’s ninth solo number-one single on the US Billboard Hot 100. It also made her the first Black woman to top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. The title refers to Texas hold ’em, a widely played form of poker, but the song is not a guide to poker rules.
The single helped establish Cowboy Carter’s musical direction before that album was released on March 29, 2024. The album became the second act in Beyoncé’s planned trilogy, a fact distinct from the song’s earlier release as a standalone lead single.
