Cowboy Carter is Beyoncé’s 2024 album and the second act of her planned trilogy.
Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records released Cowboy Carter on March 29, 2024. Beyoncé described it as the second act of a three-act project that began with Renaissance, released in 2022. The album explores country, Americana, rock, soul, and related traditions while emphasizing the historical contributions of Black musicians.
The record includes “Texas Hold ’Em,” “16 Carriages,” and “Jolene,” a reworking of Dolly Parton’s classic song. It also features guest appearances from Parton, Willie Nelson, Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, and Linda Martell.
The title was announced after the album had initially been widely referred to as Act II. It is not the same project as The Lion King: The Gift, Beyoncé’s 2019 companion album inspired by Disney’s film. Cowboy Carter also became her eighth number-one album on the Billboard 200.
