Beyoncé’s album Lemonade was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2017 Grammy Awards.
Released in April 2016, Lemonade is a visual album combining music, poetry and film. Its themes include betrayal, grief, anger, reconciliation, Black identity and women’s resilience. The project was accompanied by an HBO film and includes songs such as “Formation,” “Sorry” and “Hold Up.”
Lemonade lost Album of the Year to Adele’s 25, but it won Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Music Film-related recognition through its associated visual project. Beyoncé’s Album of the Year nomination is sometimes mixed up with her other Grammy-nominated albums, including Beyoncé and Renaissance.
