Lemonade was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2017 Grammy Awards.
Released in April 2016, Lemonade is Beyoncé’s sixth studio album and a visual album accompanied by a film broadcast on HBO. Its songs and imagery move through themes including betrayal, anger, resilience, family, Black identity, and healing.
The album was nominated for nine Grammy Awards at the 59th ceremony. It won Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Music Film, while Adele’s 25 won Album of the Year. Lemonade’s “Formation” also won Best Music Video.
Lemonade is sometimes described simply as an album, but its release included a substantial visual component and a connected hour-long film. It is not the same project as Renaissance, released in 2022 as the first act of Beyoncé’s planned three-act project.
