B'Day takes its title from Beyoncé’s birthday.
B'Day is Beyoncé’s second solo studio album and was released in September 2006, close to her September 4 birthday. The title is a compact play on “birthday,” while the opening letter also connects it directly to Beyoncé’s name.
The album followed her debut, Dangerously in Love, and was recorded during a short, intensive production period. Its singles included “Déjà Vu,” “Ring the Alarm,” and “Irreplaceable.” “Irreplaceable” became one of Beyoncé’s biggest international hits and topped the US Billboard Hot 100 for ten weeks. B'Day was later reissued in a deluxe edition that added material, including Spanish-language recordings.
