Lemonade is the Beyoncé album presented as a visual album with a film of the same name.
Released on April 23, 2016, Lemonade was Beyoncé’s sixth solo studio album. It was accompanied by Lemonade, a one-hour film broadcast on HBO that combined music videos, poetry, spoken narration, and visual storytelling.
The project explores themes including betrayal, grief, anger, reconciliation, family, and Black womanhood. Its songs draw from R&B, rock, country, blues, reggae, and hip-hop, giving the album a deliberately broad musical palette.
Lemonade debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and became Beyoncé’s sixth consecutive solo album to do so. It received nine Grammy nominations, including Album of the Year, and won Best Urban Contemporary Album.
