Cowboy Carter is the Beyoncé album built around the country-music concept of the act titled Cowboy Carter.
Released on March 29, 2024, Cowboy Carter is Beyoncé’s eighth studio album and the second act of her planned trilogy that began with Renaissance. Beyoncé described it as a genre-spanning project rooted in country music while also drawing on rock, blues, folk, and other American traditions.
The album followed the singles “Texas Hold ’Em” and “16 Carriages,” released in February 2024. Its title and presentation distinguish it from a conventional country record by placing Beyoncé’s voice within a wider history of Black contributions to country and roots music. It is sometimes called Act II because of its connection to Renaissance, but Cowboy Carter is the album’s official title.
