Lemonade is Beyoncé’s 2016 album accompanied by the visual album film of the same name.
Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records released the album on April 23, 2016, after its visual film premiered on HBO. The project combines music with poetry, imagery, and a chapter-based structure, creating a unified work rather than a collection of unrelated videos.
Its themes include betrayal, grief, anger, reconciliation, Black identity, family, and resilience. Beyoncé drew on several musical styles, including R&B, rock, country, reggae, blues, and hip-hop.
A frequent mix-up is confusing Lemonade with Beyoncé’s 2013 self-titled visual album. Both projects use extensive film, but Lemonade is the later 2016 release and has its own distinct chapter sequence and accompanying HBO presentation.
