Beyoncé’s visual album built around a film and accompanying audio record is Lemonade.
Released in 2016, Lemonade was first presented as a one-hour HBO film that combined music, poetry, imagery, and narration. The audio album followed as a set of twelve tracks, creating a unified work rather than a standard collection of unrelated singles.
The project explores themes including betrayal, grief, anger, reconciliation, Black identity, family, and womanhood. It includes guest appearances from artists such as Jack White, Kendrick Lamar, James Blake, and The Weeknd.
Beyoncé is also a visual album, and Black Is King is a visual album film connected to The Lion King: The Gift. The distinction is that Lemonade is the title of the acclaimed 2016 project whose film and audio album were released as a closely integrated artistic statement.
