Beyoncé is the self-titled 2013 album that includes “Drunk in Love” and “Flawless.”
The album was released digitally without advance announcement on December 13, 2013. Beyoncé described it as a visual album because each of its songs was accompanied by a music video, creating a unified audiovisual project.
“Drunk in Love” features Jay-Z, while “Flawless” incorporates a speech by Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Other songs include “Partition,” “Pretty Hurts,” and “XO.”
The album’s surprise release became a major music-industry moment because it bypassed the usual long promotional campaign. It is distinct from Lemonade, which arrived in 2016 with an accompanying HBO film and a different narrative structure.
