Lemonade is the Beyoncé album centered on infidelity, anger, healing, and reconciliation.
Released in 2016, Lemonade is both a studio album and a visual album. Its songs are arranged as chapters connected to emotional stages including intuition, denial, anger, apathy, accountability, reform, forgiveness, hope, and redemption.
The project drew on R&B, rock, country, blues, soul, hip-hop, and New Orleans musical traditions. Its visual film aired on HBO and used poetry, family imagery, Black history, and Southern landscapes to deepen the album's themes.
Lemonade was widely discussed in connection with Beyoncé's marriage and the public scrutiny surrounding it, but the work also addresses Black womanhood, ancestry, cultural identity, and resilience. It debuted at number one and received a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year.
