Cowboy Carter became the first album by a Black woman to win the Grammy for Best Country Album.
Beyoncé released Cowboy Carter on March 29, 2024, as her eighth studio album. It is the second act in a planned trilogy that began with Renaissance, and its title refers to a recurring cowboy and Western framework rather than a conventional country persona alone.
The album blends country with pop, rock, folk, blues, and other American musical traditions. It includes “Texas Hold ’Em,” “16 Carriages,” and “Jolene,” and features guest contributions from artists including Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, and Willie Nelson.
At the 67th Grammy Awards in 2025, Cowboy Carter won Best Country Album. The victory was historically notable because no Black woman had previously won that category. The album also won Album of the Year at the same ceremony.
