Which author joined C.S. Lewis in forming the Oxford literary group called the Inklings?

The story behind the answer

J.R.R. Tolkien joined C.S. Lewis in forming the Oxford literary group called the Inklings.

The Inklings were an informal discussion group associated with Oxford, active particularly during the 1930s and 1940s. Members and guests read aloud from works in progress, discussed literature, and debated ideas about myth, Christianity, and storytelling.

Lewis and Tolkien were among the group’s most famous members. Tolkien was developing The Lord of the Rings during years when he shared drafts and ideas within this circle, while Lewis was writing fiction and Christian works that would later become widely known.

The Inklings were not a formal club with a fixed membership list or a published manifesto. Their meetings were connected with places such as The Eagle and Child pub, known to participants as the Bird and Baby, and Lewis’s rooms at Magdalen College.
