Which Assassin’s Creed game follows Bayek, a Medjay in Ptolemaic Egypt?

The story behind the answer

Assassin’s Creed Origins follows Bayek, a Medjay in Ptolemaic Egypt.

Released in 2017, Origins tells the story of Bayek of Siwa and his wife, Aya, as they investigate a conspiracy involving a masked group known as the Order of the Ancients. The game presents their struggle as an important precursor to the later Assassin Brotherhood.

Its open world includes Egyptian locations such as Siwa, Alexandria, Memphis, and Giza. Players can explore deserts, settlements, tombs, and the Nile while encountering historical figures including Cleopatra and Julius Caesar.

The word “Origins” refers to the game’s role in depicting the formation of the Hidden Ones, the organization that later develops into the Assassins. Bayek is not himself called an Assassin at the beginning of the story; he is a Medjay, a traditional protector and law enforcer in ancient Egypt.
