Which Asian country is home to Mount Fuji?
Answer
Japan
Answer
Japan
The Asian country home to Mount Fuji is Japan.
Mount Fuji rises on Japan’s Honshu Island, west of Tokyo, and is the country’s highest mountain at 3,776 metres. Its remarkably symmetrical cone has made it a national symbol, a pilgrimage destination and a recurring subject in Japanese art, especially landscape prints from the Edo period.
Fuji is an active stratovolcano formed through repeated eruptions. Its present cone is the youngest of three volcanic structures: Komitake, Ko-Fuji and Shin-Fuji. The last confirmed eruption began in December 1707 and continued into early 1708, producing the Hoei crater and spreading ash toward Edo, now Tokyo.
The mountain lies near the boundary of Yamanashi and Shizuoka prefectures, which sometimes causes confusion about its location. It is visible from Tokyo on clear days but is not inside the capital. Mount Fuji, Mount Tate and Mount Haku are traditionally known as Japan’s Three Holy Mountains.
