Kai Havertz scored Arsenal’s first goal against Coventry City on the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
Havertz broke the deadlock in the first half at Emirates Stadium, giving Arsenal an early advantage in the opening match of their title defence. Arsenal eventually won 3–0.
The German forward has played in several attacking roles during his career, including centre-forward, attacking midfield and wide positions. His versatility has made him a regular option in Arsenal’s front line.
The goal is distinct from Arsenal’s other strikes in the match: Bukayo Saka scored the second goal, and Martin Ødegaard added the third after half-time. Those names are therefore plausible alternatives, but they did not score Arsenal’s opener.
