Which Apollo mission flew around the Moon but made no lunar landing after an onboard explosion?

The story behind the answer

Apollo 13 flew around the Moon but made no lunar landing after an onboard explosion.

On 13 April 1970, an oxygen tank in Apollo 13's service module ruptured about two days after launch. The explosion damaged the spacecraft's power, oxygen and water supplies, forcing the crew to abandon the planned landing in the Fra Mauro highlands.

Commander Jim Lovell, command module pilot Jack Swigert and lunar module pilot Fred Haise used the lunar module Aquarius as a lifeboat. They looped around the Moon and returned safely to Earth, splashing down on 17 April 1970.

Apollo 13 is sometimes called a “successful failure” because the landing objective was lost but the crew survived through rapid improvisation and ground-control support. The mission became the basis for the 1995 film Apollo 13, starring Tom Hanks as Lovell.
