Which animation studio produced Avatar: The Last Airbender?
Answer
Nickelodeon Animation Studio
Answer
Nickelodeon Animation Studio
Avatar: The Last Airbender was produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio.
The studio was Nickelodeon’s in-house animation division and is credited as the series’ production company. It developed and produced the show for Nickelodeon while creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko shaped its story, characters, and world.
The studio’s work on Avatar combined American television animation with visual influences from anime and Asian martial-arts traditions. The production also involved overseas animation services, a common arrangement for animated television. Those additional companies helped animate episodes, but Nickelodeon Animation Studio remained the principal credited studio behind the series.
Nickelodeon Animation Studio began in 1992 as Games Animation before adopting its better-known name in 1998. Its broader catalogue includes Rugrats, SpongeBob SquarePants, The Fairly OddParents, and The Loud House. In 2021, the studio also became closely connected with Avatar Studios, Nickelodeon’s division created to expand the Avatar universe. That later division is distinct from the original series’ production credit.
