Which ancient Mesopotamian flood story features Atrahasis as its human hero?

The story behind the answer

The Atrahasis Epic is the ancient Mesopotamian flood story featuring Atrahasis as its human hero. Written in Akkadian, the surviving composition tells how the god Enki warns Atrahasis about a devastating flood and instructs him to build a boat.

The work is generally dated to the second millennium BCE, although it preserves older Mesopotamian traditions. Its flood narrative includes divine conflict, a warning delivered in secret, the construction of a vessel, and the preservation of life. These motifs also appear in the later Epic of Gilgamesh and in the biblical Flood narrative, though the characters, theology, and details differ.

Atrahasis is also the name of the hero, while “The Atrahasis Epic” identifies the literary work. Spellings vary, including Atra-Hasis and Atram-Hasis, because the name is transliterated from cuneiform languages. The title is therefore more specific than simply calling it a Mesopotamian flood myth.
