Which alien species called Brutes appears in Halo: Campaign Evolved?
Answer
Jiralhanae
Answer
Jiralhanae
The alien species called Brutes in Halo: Campaign Evolved is the Jiralhanae. “Brutes” is their familiar English designation, while Jiralhanae is the species’ formal name in Halo lore.
The Jiralhanae are large, powerful, fur-covered beings known for their aggression and physical strength. In the original Halo-era setting, they serve within the Covenant’s military hierarchy, and later factions such as the Banished make extensive use of them. Their role is distinct from that of the Sangheili, or Elites, who are more closely associated with command and energy-sword combat.
The alternatives represent different alien groups. Yanme'e are insectoid Drones, Kig-Yar are the species commonly called Jackals, and Sangheili are the Elites. The wording can confuse newcomers because Halo often uses both a species’ native name and its human nickname. In this case, Jiralhanae and Brutes refer to the same species, not two separate enemy types.
