Which album immediately preceded Metallica’s 1991 self-titled album, known as The Black Album?
Answer
...And Justice for All
Answer
...And Justice for All
...And Justice for All immediately preceded Metallica’s 1991 self-titled album, known as The Black Album.
Released in 1988, ...And Justice for All was Metallica’s fourth studio album and the first to feature bassist Jason Newsted following Cliff Burton’s death. It was known for complex song structures, extended arrangements, and an aggressive thrash-metal approach.
The Black Album followed it three years later and represented a notable change in presentation. The newer record used shorter songs, stronger rhythmic grooves, and a more polished production style while preserving Metallica’s heavy guitars and intense performances.
Master of Puppets is often selected as the answer because it is one of Metallica’s most celebrated albums, but it came two releases earlier. Load came after The Black Album, while Ride the Lightning was the band’s second studio album. The chronological predecessor is therefore ...And Justice for All.
