Which African capital is Eswatini's administrative capital?
Answer
Mbabane
Answer
Mbabane
Mbabane is Eswatini’s administrative capital. It is the country’s executive capital and the seat of central government, while Lobamba serves as the royal and legislative capital.
The city lies in the Mdzimba Mountains in northwestern Eswatini, beside the Mbabane and Polinjane rivers. Its elevation—about 1,243 metres—gives it a cooler highland climate than many lowland parts of southern Africa. Mbabane is also the capital of Hhohho Region and Eswatini’s largest city by population.
Mbabane grew after the administrative centre was moved from Bremersdorp, now Manzini, in 1902. Britain later designated it the capital of the Swaziland protectorate. The name is linked to Mbabane Kunene, a chief associated with the area. The key distinction in this question is Eswatini’s dual-capital arrangement: saying Mbabane is the administrative or executive capital is correct, but calling it the sole capital leaves out Lobamba’s constitutional role.
