Which actress portrays Nellie Bertram?

Catherine Tate portrays Nellie Bertram in the U.S. version of The Office.

Nellie first appears in the seventh-season finale, “Search Committee,” as an applicant for the vacant regional-manager position in Scranton. The character was created for the American series and has no counterpart in the original British version of The Office.

Tate was reportedly considered a leading candidate to replace Steve Carell as the show’s central boss, but she could not immediately take the position because of her West End commitment to Much Ado About Nothing. She later returned as Nellie in season eight, where the character became a regular, and continued through the ninth and final season.

A common mix-up is confusing the actress with Nellie’s colleagues or rivals: Rashida Jones plays Karen Filippelli, Amy Ryan plays Holly Flax, and Kathy Bates plays Jo Bennett. Tate is also known for The Catherine Tate Show and for playing Donna Noble in Doctor Who.
