Which actress portrays Holly Flax?

Amy Ryan portrays Holly Flax in the U.S. version of The Office. Holly is a Dunder Mifflin human-resources representative whose similar sense of humor and social awkwardness make her an unusually good match for Michael Scott.

Holly is introduced in the fourth-season episode “Goodbye, Toby,” replacing Toby Flenderson as the Scranton branch’s HR representative. Her first assignment quickly becomes complicated because she and Michael begin a romance. After David Wallace discovers their relationship, Holly is transferred to the Nashua branch, separating the couple and creating one of the show’s longest-running romantic arcs.

Ryan’s role began as a one-episode appearance, but the writers expanded Holly after seeing the comic possibilities in her performance. Holly returns in later seasons, and she and Michael eventually become engaged and move to Colorado. She is an original character created for the American series, not a direct counterpart from the British version.
