Tom Kenny voiced Spyro from 1999 through the early 2000s and returned to play him in Spyro Reignited Trilogy. He first took over the role in Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage!, replacing Carlos Alazraqui, who voiced Spyro in the original Spyro the Dragon.
Kenny also voiced Spyro in Spyro: Year of the Dragon and Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly. His performance helped establish the energetic, youthful sound associated with the character during the classic series’ second phase.
For Reignited Trilogy, Kenny re-recorded Spyro’s dialogue for all three remakes, including the first game. That means the remade version of Spyro the Dragon uses Kenny even though Alazraqui was the original game’s voice actor. Kenny also returned as other characters, including the Professor and Sgt. James Byrd.
The other listed actors are associated with different eras or characters: Jess Harnell voiced Spyro in A Hero’s Tail, Elijah Wood voiced him in The Legend of Spyro, and Josh Keaton voiced him in early Skylanders games.
