Nolan North provides Nathan Drake’s voice and motion capture in the Uncharted series.
North first portrayed Drake in Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, released in 2007, and continued in the major games Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. He also reprised the character in the PlayStation Vita game Uncharted: Golden Abyss and related appearances.
His performance helped define Drake as a charming but frequently overwhelmed treasure hunter. North supplied more than dialogue: his physical performance, timing, gestures, and comic reactions helped shape how Drake moves and behaves. Naughty Dog also allowed North to improvise portions of the dialogue, contributing to the character’s conversational, self-aware personality.
The distractors are connected to the franchise but play different roles. Richard McGonagle voices Drake’s mentor Victor “Sully” Sullivan, while Troy Baker portrays Samuel Drake in later games. Stephen Fry is not the performer behind Nathan Drake. Nolan North has also voiced characters such as Deadpool, Desmond Miles, and David in The Last of Us.
