Which actor plays Santiago Moncada in the 2022 Uncharted film?

Antonio Banderas plays Santiago Moncada in the 2022 film Uncharted.

Moncada is a wealthy treasure hunter and the descendant of the family that financed Ferdinand Magellan’s expedition. He competes with Nathan Drake and Victor “Sully” Sullivan to locate the expedition’s lost treasure, making him one of the film’s principal antagonists.

The casting can cause confusion because Tom Holland plays Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg plays Sully, while Tati Gabrielle portrays Jo Braddock, Moncada’s mercenary ally. Steven Waddington appears in the film as the Scotsman, not Moncada.

Uncharted adapts characters and ideas from Naughty Dog’s video-game franchise but tells a new adventure rather than directly retelling one game. The film was directed by Ruben Fleischer and released in 2022 after a long development period involving several directors and screenplay revisions. Banderas gives Moncada a polished, aristocratic presence before the character’s ruthless ambitions become clearer.
