Owen Shaw is a former Special Air Service soldier who leads a highly trained criminal team in the 2013 film. He is presented as a strategic and technically capable opponent rather than simply a street racer. Dominic Toretto’s group is recruited by Hobbs to stop Shaw and recover Letty Ortiz, who has lost her memory after being presumed dead.

Luke Evans’s Owen Shaw is different from Deckard Shaw, played by Jason Statham. Deckard is Owen’s older brother and becomes a major antagonist in Furious 7 before developing a more complicated relationship with the team.
