Eddie Redmayne played Newt Scamander in the film series created from J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world.
Redmayne portrayed Newt in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, released in 2016, and in its two sequels. Newt is a British magizoologist who travels with a case containing magical creatures. The character is connected to a Hogwarts textbook named Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
The films expand the wizarding world beyond Harry Potter and are set decades before Harry’s birth. They introduce a different cast of leading characters, including Tina Goldstein, Queenie Goldstein and Jacob Kowalski.
Jude Law played a younger Albus Dumbledore in the series, which is one reason the two actors may be confused. Dan Fogler played Jacob, while Colin Farrell appeared as Percival Graves in the first film.
