Jeremy Theobald played Miles in Christopher Nolan’s Following.

Following is Nolan’s 1998 debut feature, a black-and-white crime thriller made on a very small budget. Theobal​d plays a young unemployed writer who begins following strangers through London and becomes entangled with a burglar known as Cobb.

The film was shot in spare periods over roughly a year, with Nolan and his collaborators working around their day jobs. Its nonlinear structure and interest in unreliable perspectives anticipate techniques Nolan later developed in Memento and other films.

Following is often confused with Nolan’s later crime films because it already contains themes of identity, deception and criminal manipulation. However, it is much shorter and more intimate than his studio productions. Jeremy Theobald also appeared in later Nolan projects, including a small role in Batman Begins.
