Jesse Eisenberg played Mark Zuckerberg in the 2010 film The Social Network about Facebook’s founding.
Directed by David Fincher and written by Aaron Sorkin, The Social Network dramatizes the creation of Facebook and the lawsuits that followed its early growth. Eisenberg portrays Zuckerberg as the central character, while the story also focuses on Eduardo Saverin, Sean Parker, and the Winklevoss brothers.
The film is based partly on Ben Mezrich’s 2009 book The Accidental Billionaires. It uses dramatic reconstruction rather than presenting a documentary account, so some dialogue, chronology, and character portrayals are fictionalized or disputed.
Andrew Garfield appears in the film as Eduardo Saverin, Zuckerberg’s friend and early business partner. Justin Timberlake plays Sean Parker. The movie received eight nominations at the 83rd Academy Awards and won three Oscars, including Best Adapted Screenplay.
