Which actor played James Bond in GoldenEye?
Answer
Pierce Brosnan
Answer
Pierce Brosnan
Pierce Brosnan played James Bond in GoldenEye.
Released in 1995, GoldenEye was Brosnan’s first appearance as 007 and the seventeenth official Eon Bond film. Martin Campbell directed the film, which also starred Sean Bean as Alec Trevelyan and Famke Janssen as Xenia Onatopp.
GoldenEye was produced after a six-year gap following Licence to Kill. During that interval, legal disputes and production delays prevented a new Bond film from being made. The story updated Bond for the post-Cold War era while retaining the character’s identity as a British intelligence agent.
Some viewers confuse Brosnan’s debut with The World Is Not Enough or Die Another Day, but GoldenEye came first. Brosnan subsequently played Bond in Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day.
