Which actor played Hernan Reyes, the main antagonist of Fast Five?
Answer
Joaquim de Almeida
Answer
Joaquim de Almeida
Joaquim de Almeida played Hernan Reyes, the main antagonist of Fast Five.
Reyes is a corrupt Brazilian businessman and drug lord whose criminal empire controls much of Rio de Janeiro. Dominic Toretto, Brian O’Conner, and their assembled team target Reyes after becoming involved in a heist that brings them into conflict with both the crime boss and the authorities.
De Almeida is a Portuguese-American actor with a long international career. His film and television work includes roles in Desperado, Clear and Present Danger, and 24. In Fast Five, his performance gives Reyes authority as a powerful local figure rather than presenting him as only a conventional action villain.
Fast Five, released in 2011, shifted the franchise toward elaborate team heists and large-scale action. Dwayne Johnson joined the main cast as federal agent Luke Hobbs, who initially pursues Dom and Brian before changing sides. Some viewers confuse Reyes with later villains such as Owen Shaw, played by Luke Evans, or Dante Reyes, played by Jason Momoa in Fast X; Dante is Hernan Reyes’s son.
