Which AC/DC guitarist replaced Malcolm Young in 2014?

The story behind the answer

Stevie Young replaced Malcolm Young in AC/DC in 2014.

Stevie Young joined the band in April 2014 to record the album *Rock or Bust*. Malcolm Young had stepped away because of dementia, and Stevie took over the rhythm-guitar role that Malcolm had helped define throughout AC/DC’s career. He was formally announced as an official band member in September 2014.

The choice was rooted in family history: Stevie is Malcolm and Angus Young’s nephew. He had already stood in for Malcolm during AC/DC’s 1988 United States tour, so he understood the band’s parts and performance style. His arrival allowed AC/DC to complete *Rock or Bust* and continue touring, although Malcolm remained credited as a founding member and songwriter.

Stevie Young is sometimes confused with Angus Young because both are guitarists and members of the Young family. Angus remained AC/DC’s lead guitarist; Stevie assumed Malcolm’s rhythm-guitar position.
