Which AC/DC drummer was convicted of threatening to kill in 2014?
Answer
Phil Rudd
Answer
Phil Rudd
Phil Rudd was the AC/DC drummer who was convicted after threatening to kill in 2014. New Zealand police arrested Rudd on November 6, 2014, after a raid on his home, and he faced charges involving threats to kill, drug possession, and an alleged attempt to procure a murder.
The murder-procurement charge was withdrawn the next day. In 2015, Rudd pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, possession of cannabis, and one charge of threatening to kill; the second threatening-to-kill charge was dropped. His conviction and continuing legal problems disrupted AC/DC’s plans around the Rock or Bust era.
Rudd had been a key part of AC/DC’s classic rhythm section and played on albums including Highway to Hell, Back in Black, and For Those About to Rock We Salute You. Because he could not tour with the band, former drummer Chris Slade returned for the Rock or Bust World Tour. Mark Evans was a bassist, not a drummer.
