Which 2026–27 Premier League opening-weekend match was the only one played on Monday?

Fulham versus Chelsea was the only 2026–27 Premier League opening-weekend match played on Monday.

The west London derby took place at Craven Cottage on Monday 24 August 2026. Chelsea won 3–2, bringing the opening round to a close after fixtures had already been played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Most Premier League opening weekends are concentrated across Saturday and Sunday, but television scheduling can place one match on Friday or Monday. In this season’s opening round, Arsenal versus Coventry City began the campaign on Friday, while Fulham versus Chelsea was the final match.

The match should not be confused with Everton versus Crystal Palace, which was played on Saturday, or Newcastle United versus Liverpool, which took place on Sunday. Chelsea’s victory also meant all ten opening-round fixtures had been completed by the end of Monday.
