Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé chronicles Beyoncé’s 2018 Coachella performance.
Netflix released Homecoming on April 17, 2019. The film combines concert footage from Beyoncé’s Coachella appearances with behind-the-scenes material showing rehearsals, creative planning, family life, and the physical demands of preparing the production.
The performance centered Black college and university traditions, especially marching bands, drumlines, majorette-style dance, and Greek-letter symbolism. It also included Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams as surprise guests.
Homecoming is both a concert documentary and a record of the show’s construction. It should not be confused with Black Is King, Beyoncé’s 2020 visual album and film connected to The Lion King: The Gift, or with Life Is but a Dream, her earlier 2013 documentary.
