Which 2019 film stars Beyoncé as the voice of Nala?

The story behind the answer

Beyoncé voiced Nala in The Lion King, the 2019 computer-animated remake of Disney’s 1994 film. The movie was directed by Jon Favreau and released in July 2019.

Nala is a lioness who is Simba’s childhood friend and later becomes his mate and queen. Beyoncé’s voice performance was part of an ensemble that included Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar.

Beyoncé also contributed the original song “Spirit” to the film’s soundtrack. Her work on the project later connected with the visual album Black Is King, which reimagined music from The Lion King: The Gift. The 2019 production is often described as live-action because of its realistic imagery, but its animals were created digitally rather than filmed as ordinary live animals.
