Which 2019 film featured Beyoncé voicing Nala in a remake of a Disney classic?

The story behind the answer

The 2019 film The Lion King featured Beyoncé voicing Nala in a photorealistic remake of Disney’s animated classic.

Directed by Jon Favreau, the film re-created the story of the 1994 animated The Lion King using computer-generated imagery designed to look like live-action wildlife footage. Beyoncé joined a cast that included Donald Glover as Simba, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, and James Earl Jones as Mufasa.

She also contributed the original song “Spirit” to the film’s soundtrack. The song appeared on both the film soundtrack and The Lion King: The Gift, an album curated by Beyoncé and inspired by the movie.

Nala is Simba’s childhood friend and eventual mate, and she becomes an important leader in the Pride Lands. The 2019 movie is different from the 2020 visual album Black Is King, which expanded on themes connected to The Lion King: The Gift.
